ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the development of an educational program for nursing education in the U.S. The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses project has been aimed at boosting the nursing student's commitment to the Institute of Medicine quality and safety competencies. As part of the program, the University of North Carolina has selected 15 schools across the country in order to participate in the second phase of the project. The said schools are required to create a curricula which will integrate various topics such as teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice and informatics as well as to develop and evaluate teaching strategies for classroom, clinical and simulation laboratories.
