ABSTRACT
This article examines the value of 14-19 diplomas for human resources (HR) departments. Andy Puttock, a general manager at BT, believes that it will give students a much more all-round view of what employment can be like. Each diploma, designed in conjunction with employers, incorporates subjects related to an industry sector, as well as maths, English and information and communications technology (ICT). However, the work experience element of the diplomas will clearly present a challenge for the employers who will be asked to provide placements.
