ABSTRACT
The article reports on Germany's film industry that suffered from a lackluster box office in 2007 even with the success of Florian Henckel Von Donnersmarck's "The Lives of Others." German film industry insiders blame competition from DVDs and an abundance of television films for the downturn. The German films "Lissi" and "Wild Soccer Bunch 4" were also hits, but the majority of 2007 German films lost money.
