ABSTRACT
The article reports on the 9% increase in the combined U.S. factory shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps for October 2007. According to the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), shipments reached a total of 393,652 units. The ARI also notes that the year-to-date combined shipments reached 5.7 million, showing a 10% decrease from the previous year. Shipments for heat pumps for October totaled 117,224, indicating a 4% drop.
