This article profiles Alfred L. Schreiber, president of Diversity Business Imperatives. Schreiber has created Diversity Business Imperatives in partnership with Wesley Brown & Bartle Co. The firm is a consultancy to companies seeking to develop minority recruitment and strategies. Schreiber, most recently managing partner of True North Cos.'s New Americas Strategies Group, has been sounding the alarm for multiculturalism in marketing for years. According to him, marketers need to be concerned with being able to leverage what is happening internally. He explained that for a company to maximize its potential with the new U.S., it needs an internal commitment to diversity at all levels of management. To be an effective organization, Schreiber said, a company needs to have representation that looks like the markets it is serving.
