The article focuses on web analytics developer WebTrends. While WebTrends faces more competition these days, it is still kept its edge and has won recent industry awards, while focusing on managing the impact of online marketing campaigns for companies like General Mills, Ikea, Microsoft, Reuters, and Ticketmaster. WebTrends competes with rivals like Site Meter and Hitwise, as well as Nielsen/NetRatings and comScore Networks. WebTrends went public in 1999, was acquired in March 2001 by NetIQ, and became a private standalone company again in May 2005 through a transaction led by members of its executive management team and Francisco Partners.
