The article profiles Tesla Motors. The company manufactures the electric sports car Tesla Roadster. The first model, due out this year, costs $92,000, but the price did not scare consumers. The first 100 Teslas sold out in a couple of months and now the company is taking orders for Tesla's 2008 model. Tesla promises its Roadster reaches freeway speed in four seconds, runs on the electrical equivalent of 135 miles per gallon, and can get roughly 200 miles per charge. Its range is better than any electric car currently in production. In two years, Tesla plans to introduce a four-door sedan for $50,000 and it has raised $45 million for developmental work in May.
