This article focuses on Lincolnshire, Illinois-based Firefly Mobile, a technology company included in "Red Herring's" top 100 list for 2007. Patrick J. Marry is the chief executive officer (CEO) of the company, which has 22 employees. Its key investors are Leo Capital, GIV Ventures Partners, and Sevin Rosen Funds. Firefly Mobile introduced Firefly, a stripped-down phone with restricted access and a prepaid minute plan to keep costs under control. Available since early 2005, and priced aggressively, the Firefly took off with parents, if not with its tween audience. The company announced that it is winding down its distribution arrangement with Cingular, but will continue to sell through retailers.
