ABSTRACT
The article presents highlights of news on chemical companies in 2007. American multinational corporation Dow Chemical Co. has dismissed 2.3% of its workforce in an attempt to improve efficiency. The European Union did not include Bayer AG from the levy it imposed on chemical companies for fixing the price of a type of rubber. Eastman Chemical Co. received a Save Energy Now Award from the U.S. Department of Energy and Responsible Care Energy Efficiency Award from the American Chemistry Council.
