The article reports on the impact of the Internet on the insurance industry. Insurance carriers can reach online customers through carrier Web site, search engines or a comparative rating or lead-generation site that describes a carrier's products. According to Matt Josefowicz, director of Celent, insurers have to look at their consumer Web sites as a marketing tool that can provide information on online quoting, product design and needs analysis. Only few consumers rely completely on the Web to purchase a policy.
