ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the need for improvement in hospitals, according to a report released by the U.S. Joint Commission in 2007. The key findings stated in the report include the significant improvement in hospitals due to the requirement to follow a standard process for continual quality measurement and the variability in performance by state. Executive vice president Jerod M. Loeb cited the non-compliance in other areas including the reporting of critical test results and medication reconciliation.
