ABSTRACT
The article focuses on research about the risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) between nondiabetic and type 2 diabetic women with or without features of the atherogenic metabolic triad. It states that physicians may need to go beyond glycemia to appropriately assess or manage CAD risk in their patients with type 2 diabetes. It mentions that abdominal obesity and hypertriglycemia as markers of the metabolic syndrome are significant CAD risk factors to evaluate in women with type 2 diabetes.
