The article reports that Fred's Beds has opened its 11th store with a benefit for the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in Raleigh, North Carolina. The retailer donated 1% of its October and early November 2007 sales to support of breast cancer research. According to Lisa Stansbury, Fred's Beds vice president, to donate to the cause was a very easy decision because her mother Rosie Whitfield, lost her battle with breast cancer in August 1988.
