ABSTRACT
The article provides tips on how to discuss the fire resistant standard for mattresses without intimidating consumers in the U.S. It is suggested that one should talk about the escape time, of which the new standard is designed to provide. One can tell a consumer that the new beds provide state-of-the-art fire resistant protection. The standard makes beds resistant to fires but it does not mean the absence of fire risks involved.
