ABSTRACT
The article reports on the 1.3% net sales gain in book segments in the U.S. during the fall of 2007. According to the latest data of the Association of American Publishers, October was strong for adult hardcovers though almost every other segment was down. Adult hardcovers and adult paperbacks had a net sales rise of 9.7% and 3%, respectively, while returns fell at a 3.9% rate for both. Adult mass market held the biggest disappointment, with a net sales decline of 18.1%, to $62.6 million.
