The article focuses on the benefits resulting from merging of Brookshire Brothers and Polk Oil. It reports that the merger took place when the supermarket chain entered the retail fuel business in the 1990s. Polk Oil started with the fuel business but added convenience stores and started selling general merchandise. It ststes that Brookshire Bros. added fuel sales to its primary focus of selling food.
