Of those five major Western European nations, the author reveals that Britain has embraced the Internet the most, which likely explains why it was the first Western European nation whose Internet population surpassed 50%. According to a report by eMarketer, France, Germany, and Italy have also reached the 50% penetration mark and continue to grow. Spain is the one country where online population is growing quicker percentage-wise than any of the other nations, despite its smaller population.
