ABSTRACT
The article reports that food service distributor Gordon Food Service (GFS) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has been building warehouses which are 100 feet up. The company delivers food and related goods to restaurants, hotels, colleges, schools, camps, hospitals, nursing homes and many other places that use consumables in quantity. It states that the company prefers a more traditional, technology-based manual warehouse in areas where the concentration of customers does not warrant the vertical approach.
