ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the Deepwater acquisition program of the U.S. Coast Guard. It relates that after the service has taken control of the 25-year, $24-billion program, it is reverting to stand-alone purchases of all assets, including aircraft, to modernize its fleet. It was taken into account that the Coast Guard took charge of the program in April 2007 in response to criticism from Congress and government watchdog agencies over designs mistakes, cost overruns and lax oversight.
