ABSTRACT
The article discusses the application of category management in the grocery trade in the U.S. It states that the path of progression for category management in the fresh departments over the past decade started as an unmarked trail, scattered with limited data availability that was fairly expensive to do. Michael Uetz, principal of Midan Marketing, concurs that the category management spotlight is narrowing. It is inferred that department management and customer relationship management also build loyalty and sales.
