ABSTRACT
The article offers information on the history of National Science Foundation Network (NSFNET) network application in the U.S. International Business Machines Corp. with Merit Network Inc. and MCI Communications Corp. has acquired the contract to develop and deploy the network which serves as the foundation of the development of Internet. It can support high speed network backbone as well as interconnect communication transmission with networks and end sites. It can also be used as transmission control protocol/Internet protocol (TCP/IP) application in larger networks that allows interorganizational communications.
