ABSTRACT
The article focuses on small Asian set-top box (STB) manufacturers that are challenging market leaders. A study conducted by IMS Research in the U.S. states that old STB manufacturers are facing competition from lower-tier manufacturers, a trend that may lead to a strong growth in the industry. It is believed that Asian manufacturers, such as DVN, Changhong and Jiuzhou, have ascended into the top 20 digital cable TV markets in Asia.
