Document management to help Ofgem to £5m savings

The article reports that the British Office of Gas, and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) has installed a system to help its 300 staff search for documents, as part of a drive to cut operating costs by £5 million by 2010. It is informed that the new system will also help the gas and electricity industry regulator comply with a mandate from the National Archive requiring Ofgem to index and electronically store all documents by 2008. It is informed that the document and record management system, which cost less than £200,000, has simplified the process of searching and accessing documents.
