ABSTRACT
The article discusses the benefits of using adjustable-frequency drives on industrial and commercial equipment. Using adjustable-frequency drives that use state-of-the-art technology allow efficient operation of equipment. A combination of pulse-width modulation and microprocessor control provide efficient induction motor control and flexibility. Another combination is the insulated-gate bipolar transistors and surface-mounted-device technology that provide a more compact and cheaper drive.
