ABSTRACT
The article discusses the environmental aspects of energy management for IP-telephony. The article discusses various issues surrounding energy consumption and information technology (IT), including variable utility rates in the United States, comparing datacenter power consumption to that of office power use, the impact of heat on technology longevity, power use by switches, Internet telephony phones and devices, and uninterruptible power supplies. The author also provides advice on how to conserve power.
