ABSTRACT
The article reveals that more than half of the North American homes passed by Fiber to the Home (FTTH) deployments will have opted for the service by 2011, according to ABI Research. The author reports that by the time this happens, service providers will be on their way to transitioning from delivering service over Ethernet passive optical networks to Gigabit PONs and Active Ethernet, ABI projects. Commentary by Stan Schatt, the Vice President and research director of ABI, is provided. The projections are contained in the report "PON and Active Ethernet FTTH Deployments."
