The article assesses the effects of bankruptcy abuse and consumer protection act on child support payments in the U.S. Bankruptcy does not discharge unpaid child support obligations, instead filers are required to submit a repayment loan for 3-5 years. Also, the assets of filers are converted to cash and distributed to the creditors based on the priorities and procedures in the code to discharge their personal liability.
