ABSTRACT
The article presents the report of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), which audited the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) fiscal year 2007 and 2006 financial statements. In GAO's opinion, SEC's financial statements were fairly shown in all material respects. However, because of a material weakness in internal control over SEC's financial reporting process, in GAO's opinion, it did not have effective internal control over financial reporting as of September 30, 2007.
