ABSTRACT
The article reports on telecommunications equipment vendor Ciena's acquisition of PhyFlex Networks' Ethernet-over-coaxial-cable core technology and associated intellectual property. The Westford, Massachusetts-based PhyFlex will wind down its operations effective immediately as a result of the deal. The acquisition includes patents covering out-of-band network architecture and switched Ethernet-over-hybrid-fiber-coax networks.
