ABSTRACT
The article relates the story of multiple sclerosis patient Denise Veazey and how Universal Design changed her life. Veazey initially determined herself to get involved in the design of her own home. Before long, she was living in the home and she met Jim Wille, an attorney by training, who had formerly headed an Independent Living Center in Rockford, Illinois. After they got married, Veazey was introduced by Wille to Universal Design. Soon Veazey and Wille started to offer home designs and even plan for a Universal Design home on the Internet.
