ABSTRACT
The article assesses the plan of SAP to acquire business intelligence (BI) and analytics company Business Objects. The acquisition, valued at about €4.8 billion, is said to be the biggest in the 35-year history of SAP. In a statement from the companies, the plan would enable it to design products to strengthen decision processes, increase customer value and create sustainable competitive advantage. Ray Wang, senior analyst at Forrester Research, Business Objects would enhance the solution-centric ecosystem of SAP.
