This article examines the growing industry of e-reference publishing. Particular focus is given to trends which would seem to forecast improvements in the industry, such as increased searchability, more customization, improved interfaces, and more format choices. Reference publishers that are profiled include ABC-CLIO, Berkshire, Greenwood, and Facts On File. News and notes from various other publishers such as Salem, Springer, and H.W. Wilson are included.
