ABSTRACT
The article discusses the enforcement of arbitral awards under the Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL). The article discusses the effort of the UNCITRAL to unify the laws regulating the enforcement of international commercial arbitration awards. It outlines the existing international regimes governing the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards. It also examines the New York Convention which is considered to be the most popular of the regimes. A discussion of the problems with the Convention which bear on the success of the Model Law of the UNCITRAL is also provided.
