The article presents a summary of the October 1977 issue of the publication. The major article focused on the production of a large, cumulative index. The article's author discussed problems she faced in creating the index including issues with consistency, the length of time involved, and trouble finding typists to produce the final typescript. An article about discussing the link between the form and content of an index was presented. A report on the first Scottish Conference of the Society of Indexers was given. British indexing standards were discussed and the presentation of the first Carey Award by the Society of Indexers to Society founder G. Norman Knight was announced.
