The article discusses a strategy to enhance the performance of Holstein dairy system with the help of Formula One (F1) cows. It notes the importance of considering issues of fertility, lameness, condition and quality of milk composition to ensure high output. It suggests ways to reduce lameness in cows which include improving cow walking surfaces and providing nutritional changes to reduce acid loading of the rumen. It cites that the success or failure of the strategy depends on the maintenance of the right body condition score of 3-3.5 until calving.
