ABSTRACT
The article reports on the Options Symbology Initiative that was launched by Options Clearing Corp. (OCC) and U.S. options exchanges to spearhead the efforts to revise the symbols used to represent exchange-traded options contracts. It mentions that the revision of symbols will allow an option to compare with an underlying security and provide additional information on the said option. Ned Miles, principal software engineer at Tick Data, believes that the initiative is needed to improve the market transparency for listed options.
