ABSTRACT
The article follows the successful venture of Asustek into the laptop computer industry. Once known for manufacturing cheap clones of name-brand laptops, the company began designing its own in 1997 and produced more than 4 million in 2007. Jonney Shih, the company's chief executive, has sought to create a laptop that uses solid-state memory and has wireless fidelity connectivity as well as camera, speakers and a microphone.
