ABSTRACT
The article informs about endoscopic resection (ER) as a diagnostic tool for the staging of early oesophageal carcinomas. It is reported that ER has superior performance over normal surgerical removal of early oesophageal carcinomas as morbidity and mortality rates in ER are very low, provides low risk of lymph-node metastasis in low-risk mucosal carcinomas, to name only a few. It informs about various staging methods, indications for early squamous cell carcinoma, and limitations of ER.
