IICT's Technology for Improved Process for Heptafluoropropane transferred to industry

The article reports on the development by the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) of an improved process for heptafluoropropane (FM-200) and its release to the Centre for Environment and Explosive Safety (CFEES/DRDO) in October 2007. The technology has been passed on to M/s Mechvac Fabricators (I) Private Ltd. in Mumbai. In turn, M/s Mechva has received advance orders for FM-200, which is a halon substitute used in fire fighting systems.
