ABSTRACT
The article reports on the development of the laser that cuts silicon for solar production by the SPI Lasers company. According to Bill O'Neill, the laser cutting process requires expensive DPSS lasers that needs higher levels of maintenance. The new technology by SPI Laser promises cost effectiveness, increase throughput, and product energy conversion efficiency.
