ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the role of publisher Christy Haubegger in the success of the periodical Latina. Haubegger launched Latina in 1996. In the past year, fashion companies have signed on as major advertisers. Latina advertising pages continue to build. In March 1999, the magazine had 40-plus advertising pages and in the 2000 issue will top 70 pages. In the late 1999, she signed a deal with publishing firm Hyperion Books to publish the book Latina Beauty. In the same year, she was the youngest of five women inducted into the American Advertising Federation's Hall of Achievement for changing the way people think about the Hispanic market.
