ABSTRACT
This article profiles Lori Cloud, vice president for entertainment marketing at Frankel, and her views regarding the U.S. marketing industry as of February 2000. Cloud was promoted after serving as director of the department following her arrival in 1997. Previously, Cloud held key posts in promotion and sponsorship marketing at various Hollywood studios including Universal and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where she helped negotiate and execute film tie-ins with major marketers. According to Cloud, package-goods companies are asking for broader exclusivity across categories for film tie-ins; there is less opportunity to slice up sponsorships into niche categories.
