ABSTRACT
The article discusses the clinical manifestation and natural course of Morquio A disease, an alternative name for mucopolysaccharidosis type IV (MPS IV), a form of skeletal dystrophy. The disease is caused by a deficiency in the enzyme originally called N-acetylgalactosamine-6-sulfatase, which creates impairments in chondroitin 6-sulfate and keratin sulfate degradation. However, it is stated that natural history of MPS IV provides useful information for future trials.
