ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the concept of customizing cellular telephones. Lori Sylvia, vice president of Red Bend Software, shares the market segmentation approach being developed by OMA Device Management. The work is under a standard called software component management object (SCOMO). Also discussed is the vRapid mobile, a software management that allows the addition or removal of software components on the phone. The SCOMO standards were started in 2005 and the contributors are Nokia, Innopath and Sun Mycrosystems, among others.
