ABSTRACT
The article presents a research conducted in Geneva, Switzerland that seeks to identify the efficacy of celecoxib in preventing heterotopic ossification in patients having total hip replacement through a direct lateral approach. The results show that celecoxib was more effective than ibuprofen in preventing heterotopic ossification. Adjustment for age, sex, duration of surgery and preoperative anti-inflammatory treatment did not alter the results.
