ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision of Hooker Furniture Corp. to acquire the assets of New York City-based Opus Designs. The acquisition will give Hooker the opportunity to stabilize its youth bedroom program. James Millner, president of design and engineering at Opus will join Hooker while Opus principal and co-founder Marc Katzman will not join the company. Opus following the merger intends to keep it SmartKids brand through lower price points.
