ABSTRACT
This article reports that Self magazine has designated March 7, 2000 as the day women should remember to take care of themselves. The publication has convinced advertisers to join in the spirit of the day with offers of free services and products. Self Day is not just a promotion, according to Cynthia Leive, the new editor in chief. Self Day--which will be introduced in the magazine's March 2000 issue--already has plenty of commercial backing. National sponsors include Bally Total Fitness Corp., which will offer free access to its health clubs and $50 off any membership on March 7. Jenny Craig International will also give a free 30-day diet program to anyone who walks into its offices that day, according to Self publisher Beth Brenner.
