ABSTRACT
The article reports on the urge of Switzerland-based World Conservation Union for an urgent action to stave off a global extinction crisis, which was done in conjunction with the release of its 2007 Red List of Threatened Species. Compiled by a network of experts for the organization, the Red List classifies plant and animal species according to its extinction risk.
