Nucor to Acquire Nelson Steel

The article reports on the plan of Nucor Corp. to acquire the assets of Nelson Steel Inc. in New Salem, Pennsylvania. Nelson Steel is a producer of wire mesh and related products including wire rack decking, lightweight galvanized mesh, mine mesh and engineering mesh. Mike Parrish, executive vice president of Nucor, points out that the acquisition is a good growth opportunity for one of its existing downstream businesses and expands its wire mesh business at Connecticut and LEC.
