ABSTRACT
This article examines how traditional notions of masculinity and male behavior changed and adapted to modern life during the 18th and 19th centuries, specifically in Hungary. The author builds upon the work of Norbert Elias and Pierre Bourdieu but separates from them by emphasizing the continuously changing patterns of masculinity. He believes his research is part of the relational disposition sociology, which charts patterns in everyday life and how these structures evolve non-consciously over time.
